Emmett C. Sole

Emmett Sole has fifty-five years of legal experience in construction, fidelity and surety, product liability, professional liability, insurance and toxic torts law. His lengthy legal career and litigation experience in many areas of the law uniquely qualify him to assist as a neutral in the resolution of legal disputes. Mr. Sole serves as a court appointed neutral/mediator in the Hurricane Laura and Delta Claims for the 14th Judicial District Court for Calcasieu Parish in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

In 2007, 2008 and 2009, Mr. Sole attended mediation training programs offered by Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution in conjunction with Pepperdine University School of Law. U.S. News & World Report ranked Pepperdine the #1 dispute resolution program in the country. Mr. Sole completed training in STAR: A Systematic Approach to Mediation Strategies at Pepperdine University School of Law (2007). He completed training in Specialized Mediation: Tools to Unlock the Unique Features of Employment, Professional Malpractice and Personal Injury Disputes at Pepperdine University School of Law (2008), and he completed training in Mediating Complex Construction Disputes at Pepperdine (2009).

Mr. Sole is an experienced mediator and arbitrator with over fifty-five years of practice. He is also experienced in banking law, creditor-debtor law and real estate law. He is a member of the Louisiana State Law Institute (President 2001-2003, Chairman 2004-present); Louisiana State Bar Association (House of Delegates, 1974-82; Nominating Committee, 1983-84; Board of Governors, 1990-91; and Council and Vice Chair of the Fidelity, Surety and Construction Law Section, 1995-present); American Bar Association (Tort and Insurance Practice Section; and Forum Committee on the Construction Industry); and fellow of the American Bar Foundation (Louisiana State Chair, 2003-present) and Louisiana Bar Foundation. He is also a member of the Southwest Louisiana Bar Association and former Louisiana Special Assistant Attorney General.

Mr. Sole was a recognized member of "Best Lawyers in America" in construction law and professional liability law, 2007-2009 and "Louisiana Super Lawyers" in construction/surety law, 2008-2009.

In addition to his law and ADR practice, Mr. Sole is a frequent lecturer and panelist at professional meetings and seminars. He has spoken on Arbitration Law for the LSU CLE Program presented in Lakes Charles (2008).
