William A. Morvant
William Morvant served as a state district court judge in the 19th Judicial District Court seated in East Baton Rouge Parish for the past 25 years (from 1997-2021). While on the bench, Judge Morvant presided over countless bench and jury trials covering all areas of civil law. In addition, Judge Morvant conducted hundreds of settlement conferences. Prior to being elected in 1996, Judge Morvant practiced primarily in the areas of commercial litigation, contracts, products liability and banking litigation. He is well versed in civil procedure and evidentiary matters.
Judge Morvant was born and raised in Thibodaux, Louisiana where he attended E. D. White Catholic High School, but has now lived in Baton Rouge for the last 40 years. He is married to Rhonda Waguespack Morvant. They have three children, Brian, Emily and Eric, and four grandchildren.
