David C. Clement

David Clement is a founding member of the New Orleans law firm of Clement Gates & May. He has extensive experience with every facet of a construction project, and began his career in architecture. Since being admitted to practice law in 1995, he has represented architects, engineers, owners, developers, sureties, insurers, contractors and subcontractors in the areas of real estate, construction and insurance law. As a result of the devastating effects of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in Louisiana and the related litigation that followed, Mr. Clement also gained extensive experience in the areas of first party insurance claims, bad faith insurance claims handling and insurance agent malpractice. Mr. Clement handles mediations, arbitrations and umpire claims with the Perry Dampf panel.

Appraisal umpiring involves complex construction scope and price disputes, for which Mr. Clement has nearly 30 years of construction related experience. Additionally, he has extensive experience in litigation since Hurricane Katrina with the Xactimate and Simsol estimating software that are customarily involved in the appraisal process.
