A. J. Krouse

A.J. Krouse is a nationally recognized mediator and arbitrator with the Perry Dampf panel since 2004. He is qualified with the Civil District Court-Parish of Orleans, Louisiana Mediator Registry maintained by the ADR Section of the Louisiana State Bar Association, First Circuit Court of Appeal and the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD). He also serves as a court appointed mediator in the Hurricane Ida Claims Settlement Program in the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Louisiana.

Mr. Krouse has over 37 years as a litigation partner including extensive jury trial experience, advising clients in the course of defending, prosecuting, and settling litigation, including pre-litigation risk analysis, conducting or directing internal investigations; negotiating with governmental agencies in connection with administrative proceedings and investigations; conducting alternative dispute resolution (ADR) proceedings; managing electronic discovery and database management. Mr. Krouse was awarded the AV rating by the Martindale Hubbell Law Directory and also named to the 2007, 2008, 2010, 2013 and 2014-2017 Louisiana Super Lawyers’ List by Louisiana Life magazine.

An experienced mediator and arbitrator, Mr. Krouse has been a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (International Centre for Arbitration & Mediation, London, England, FCIArb Designation No. 022054) since 2010; a distinguished fellow with the American College of Civil Trial Mediators® since 2012; a fellow of the Academy of Court Appointed Neutrals since 2010; and a fellow of the College of Commercial Arbitrators since 2009. Among his other recognitions, he is a fellow of the International Mediation Institute and The American College of e-Neutrals.

Mr. Krouse has served as an arbitrator in over 140 arbitrations including large complex cases involving national and international parties and complicated multi party disputes. He has experience and training in both domestic and international arbitration laws and procedures, including AAA, ICDR, UNCITRAL, ICSID, ICC and LCIA rules and procedures. He was recently inducted into the College of Commercial Arbitrators (CCA) and Academy of Court Appointed Neutrals (ACAN) as a fellow.

In 2008, Mr. Krouse attended Advanced Commercial Mediation Institute presented by Association for Conflict Resolutions in collaboration with the Harvard University and the American Arbitration Association. His bar admissions include the State of Louisiana (1984), Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Louisiana, United States District Court, United States Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit and United States Supreme Court.

In 2020, Mr. Krouse was inducted into the City Business Leadership in Law Hall of Fame in 2020. A.J. Krouse has been appointed by the Louisiana Law Institute to the ADR Committee for a revision of arbitration statutes in Louisiana.

Mr. Krouse served active duty as a Captain in the United States Army, Military Police Corps from 1977-1981. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal; Humanitarian Service Medal for meritorious achievement; and Army Commendation Medal (First Oak Leak Cluster) for meritorious service (1981). He was honorably discharged from the United States Army in September 1981.

A distinguished military graduate of Loyola University, Mr. Krouse served as a judicial law clerk to United States District Judge A. J. McNamara from 1984 – 1985. He was a member of the Phi Kappa Theta fraternity during his undergrad studies. Mr. Krouse has attended numerous alternative dispute resolution training conferences and has frequently spoken on electronic discovery and ADR topics including “Dispute Resolution with the Masters: Lessons from Two Super Lawyers” – presented by the LSBA and its Alternative Dispute Resolution Section in October 2010.
