Katherine M. Loos

Ms. Loos is the founder of Katherine M. Loos, LLC. She has had an active litigation practice for 36 years. From 1983 to 2010, she was a partner in a mid-size Lafayette defense firm. Ms. Loos has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of cases. She has extensive litigation experience in both state and federal courts throughout Louisiana and in Texas. She has been involved in the successful resolution of a variety of disputes including mass torts, toxic torts, product liability, premises liability, construction defect, automobile liability, insurance, and workers' compensation. Ms. Loos has also worked extensively on the resolution of many complex multi-party disputes.

Ms. Loos has tried dozens of jury trials in many of the state courts of Louisiana and in U.S. District Court and has had extensive experience in the state and federal appellate courts. Her years of experience as an accomplished litigator, along with her natural ability to connect with people, enable her to achieve settlements in the vast majority of her mediations.

Ms. Loos was appointed by United States District Judge Carl J. Barbier to serve as the Associate Documentation Reviewer under the Deepwater Horizon Economic and Property Damages Settlement Agreement. Ms. Loos is a disciplinary hearing officer for the Lafayette Parish School Board.

Ms. Loos is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell (highest possible rating). She has always been active in multiple civic and charitable organizations as well as her church. She has served in positons of leadership with those groups and in her church. She serves on the Advisory Council of LSU’s College of Humanities & Social Sciences (formerly known as the College of Arts and Sciences). She is the proud mother of two daughters.
