Donald J. Cazayoux, Jr.
Congressman Cazayoux started his career with Chaffe, McCall, Philips, Toler, and Sarpy in Baton Rouge. He then went on to serve as a prosecutor in Pointe Coupee Parish and continued with a private practice in New Roads. In Cazayoux’s private law practice, he represented both plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of civil disputes. He has been counsel in various class actions and actions involving significant injuries and has participated in numerous mediations.
Cazayoux was elected to the Louisiana House of Representatives in 1999 and served as a state representative until May 2008. In the legislature, Cazayoux was known as a consensus builder and a leader. In May 2008, Cazayoux was elected to the United States Congress from the 6th District. He became a member of the Blue Dog Coalition, which is a moderate, centrist group of democratic legislators who seek to build consensus across party and ideological lines to find solutions to the problems of our country.
Congressman Cazayoux has been married for 22 years, and he and his wife have three children. They continue to live in New Roads, Louisiana.
